Christantus Uche Fuels Comfortable Crystal Palace Win at Irish Side Shelbourne.
Despite entering their first-ever European adventure, Crystal Palace are learning at a rapid pace. Without star figures like striker Jean-Philippe Mateta and wing-back Daniel Muñoz, the Eagles left Dublin with a commanding result that virtually secures them a spot in the Conference League playoffs.
A further victory in their next match against Finland's KuPS should be enough to secure straight entry to the knockout stages, especially following a previous stumble against Strasbourg.
Fringe Players Seize the Opportunity
This match offered a chance for several Palace's fringe players to shine. Christantus Uche, making only his second beginning after arriving on loan from Getafe, opened the scoring with a clinical finish. Forward Eddie Nketiah added a second, scoring for the second game in succession.
The Shelbourne team that had concluded their league season were outmatched even for a mostly second-string Palace outfit. The Londoners were already weakened by the reports that Mateta and Muñoz are sidelined with leg problems.

Despite torrential rain in Dublin, Palace rapidly established dominance. A slick move in the 11th minute, initiated by Daichi Kamada's clever pass, allowed Nketiah to lay on Uche for a straightforward finish.
Youngster Adam Wharton came close soon after, driving a long-range shot over the bar. Nketiah then claimed for a penalty after racing into the box, but the referee waved away the protests.

The contest was effectively over eight minutes from half-time. Yeremy Pino meandered past some comically weak challenges before calmly dispatching a shot past goalkeeper Wessel Speel to make it 3-0.
Following the break, manager Oliver Glasner took the chance to withdraw key players like Kamada and Wharton. Replacement Romain Esse almost scoring with his very first touch, but saw his effort blocked.
Esse was incredibly unlucky later on, seeing one attempt strike off both posts before being clasped on the line. Uche also blazed a glaring chance, showing there is still room for improvement in his game.
A solitary worry for Palace was a second-half knock to Justin Devenny, who was forced off. This paved the way for 17-year-old striker Benji Casey to earn his senior debut, rounding off an otherwise positive night for the visiting side.
